The National Library of Uganda (NLU), established in 2003, replaced the Public Libraries Board and serves as the nation's legal deposit library, responsible for collecting, preserving, and disseminating Uganda's documented heritage.
It evolved from earlier library services, including the Uganda Society's library and the East African Literature Bureau, and plays a crucial role in promoting literacy and cultural preservation.
