Mengo Hospital, a cornerstone of Uganda's healthcare history, was established in 1897 by Dr. Sir Albert Ruskin Cook, a physician and missionary. Starting as a small outpatient clinic under a tree, it has grown into a major urban community hospital and a teaching, research, and referral center. The hospital's rich history is marked by its pioneering role in introducing modern medicine to Uganda and East Africa.

Outpatient & Specialist Clinics
Offers day and private outpatient consultations across specialties: general medicine, surgery, pediatrics, ENT, ophthalmology, obstetrics‑gynecology, neurology, psychiatry, dermatology, urology, orthopedics, and plastic surgery with appointments available Monday through Saturday
Hospital-Based & Emergency Service
Provides inpatient care with 250–331 beds, 24/7 ICU, emergency ambulance services, surgical theatre, and maternity services including a high-volume obstetrics department.
Diagnostic, Clinical & Outreach
Features advanced diagnostics (labs, X-ray, ultrasound, CT scan), eye clinic (including cataract surgery), dental care, mental health outpatient services, physiotherapy, endoscopy, and community/home care services within a 30 km radius
